Meals on Wheels Receives $1500 Donation

The City of Corpus Christi Senior Community Services Division's "Meals on Wheels" program will be receiving a $1,500.00 donation from Mike Colglazier, owner of MC Events, Senior Market Trade Shows. Additional funds to support the local Meals on Wheels program will be raised during the two-day Senior Lifestyle Show 2009 to be hosted on October 20 and 21, 2009 from 9a.m. - 2p.m. at the Ortiz International Center, 402 Harbor Drive.

The free event will feature exhibitor booths, entertainment and games, health screenings and free flu shots for all Medicare Eligible seniors. The RTA will provide free fixed route service to the event. Attendees may make an on-site donation to the City's Meals on Wheels program. Exhibitors will also engage in a friendly competition to raise additional funds for the program.

The Meals on Wheels program provides a healthy nutritious hot noon day meal delivered Monday through Friday to the homes of eligible clients who are 60+. Eligibility is based on activities of daily living; nutritional risk scores; medical need and social isolation.
